If Jesus is God why did he just say so when here on earth?
One thing I have noticed as a continual thing is that Jesus never claimed to be God himself and never ever stated that he had his own powers, he stated they were from God and again when Satin tempted him he refered to God not himself........And as for beign our Lord yes he is but why does the Bible say that God gave him the Keys to Heaven and the authority to rule ...........hummmmmm dosent seem like he is god to me what is your opinion......Oh and one thing dont give me those same tired old scriptures that everyone always give like (if u have seen me u have seen the lord) I want more .......

>> If Jesus is God why did he just say so when here on earth?

        He did:

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

God bless.

If Jesus is God why didn't he just say so when here on earth? John 7:18. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. John 12:49. For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. 50. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
Matthew 1:23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
John 8:58. Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.

At the time the Bible was written, nations were ruled by kings. When a king died or was killed, his heir became king. Sometimes, because of old age, disease, injuries, love and respect, whatever, a king gave his kingdom to his heir or they reined together, in which case they were both kings. Although the son showed respect for the father, the son was still a king and was entitled to respect or worship from the people of the kingdom as was his father.
Such is the kingdom of God; Jesus shall be king, because His Father declared it. The Father considers the Son his equal, so He, too, is God. If we fail to respect Jesus as king and God, then we fail to respect the Father's will, and we cannot live in their kingdom, the kingdom of God.

Many things in Scripture are not, "Here is point A; here is point B." Like you said, you need to know the Bible.

In the Old Testament, God, through His prophets (to whom He gave His words) stated that He is the Savior of the world. Repeatedly, from the time of the Law in Exodus He commands that He is the Lord and He alone is to be worshipped. I don't know about some pepople posting here, but in my Bible, it says that God created the heavens and the earth, and you don't have to go too far in to read that (try Genesis 1:1). In the N. T. you read that Jesus created all things (Colossians chapter 1). You see that He is and is to be worshipped (which according to the O. T. is not for anyone but God). And of course, Jesus Christ is Savior.

The website sources are NOT where I got my answers (because those are things I've thought about myself and things that I've reconciled in my own mind and heart), but they are helpful and will have more information than I can provide. I hope anyone who doesn't understand this topic will check them out.

Jesus used the language and terms of His day. By examining the reactions of the people, you can discern His meaning. The people knew very well that He was claiming deity.

For instance, Jesus said, "I and My Father are one" (John 10:30). How did the Jews react? They prepared to stone him for blasphemy, telling Him, "because You, being a Man, make Yourself God" (10:33).

I know this is not clear enough for you, but it was clear enough for them. Read all of John chapter 6 and you'll have to conclude that either Jesus was delusional, or He was saying things that only a God could say:

Jesus said that through Him they would never hunger or thirst.
Jesus said that He will raise us up from the dead.
To see Jesus is to see the Father.
Whoever believes in Him has everlasting life.
He is the living bread who came down from heaven.
He who feeds on Jesus will live because of Him.
His words to us are spirit and life.

Do these sound like the sayings of a mere man or of God?

First off, I have a comment for Pam. You cannot make statements about scriptures and then use one that was inserted by a Catholic scribe because there was no proof of the trintity in the Bible. Most newer study Bibles very correctly do not include the passage you quoted because of it's origins as a very late addition that is not found in any of the older manuscripts.

1 John 5:7 And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is the truth. (ASV)
:7 And the Spirit is the witness, because the Spirit is true.(Bible in Basic English)

The spurious insert is this:

:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Quite a difference.

As for the question, a few scriptres to consider and a link to study.

John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. ....41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.....48 I am that bread of life.
.....51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. 16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. 18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Ex 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Isaiah 7:13-14 "13And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Fulfilled according to Matthews account of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Matthew 1:20-23. "20But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

23Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Only God can forgive sins. Yet Jesus forgave sins as well. In fact to some in order to prove he had the power to forgive sins, he healed them. Now according to the Rabbinical priesthood no ordinary man could forgive sins. A priest had the authority to do that. But not an ordinary man. Yet Jesus did that without being a priest.

God bless and have a happy holidays.

There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Ghost and these three are one. This is the trinity. We didn't make this up.
Jesus said on this earth that His Father and Him were one. He said that if you've seen Him you've seen the Father. In phil. the Bible states that Jesus thought it not robbery to be equal with God.

They crucified Him NOT because He said He was a prophet....they crucified Him because He said that Him and His Father were one...

You can't rewrite scripture to make it fit your beleif system.

God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost.
All are THE God !
Just like YOU, there are three parts of you. The most evident is your flesh. But, there are two more parts of you. One is the Spirit of God, that created you, two is the MIND that is in you...the thought process....the Soul.

Jesus was the manifestation of the Godhead bodily ! That means He was GOD, manifested !

We have three parts of us : Spirit, Soul, and Body, created in His image.......................Spirit ( Holy Ghost ), Soul ( Mind of God: Father ), and Flesh ( the manifestation of God in the natural realm ) , which is Jesus . Jesus is the physical manifestation of God ! Otherwise, your faith is in vain...

I have never seen or read any thing that proved to me that Jesus is God only that he is a god and his sacrifice for mankind. That in the since that we must recognize him in his position to his father and his devine given Kingship over the new heavens and earth.[these being not rebuilt but having new rulership and government] Read matt 6:9-14 Jesus model prayer .It speaks to Christs being God,s son and his kingdom we want here on earth with Christ as King to lead us to perfection,to santify his fathers name and give it [Jehovah] proper respect and praise, and thanking him for all our needs and protection .Why would Christ pray this to someone that did'nt exsist?Christ is made in the image of his father meaning his thoughts and standards. We have many traits of our human parents from living with and learning from them so it'nt it reasonable to see that Christ would be like his father though not him in person or form.
