It's getting to be rather tiresome.
If you ever stopped to ask any of us democrats, we've lost people and have people serving who may not be home for the holidays too.
By the way, MoveOn.org has already raised 250,000 dollars to allow all the troops to call home for the holidays... if you would like to donate to this cause, here is the link:

Are we finally past the time when one party thinks that they own the military and speak for all its members?
Furthermore, what can we do for the 10,000+ soldiers who suffer from PTSD?
You know, they are 70% less likely to recieve all the benefits they were promised...

RTO Trainer - on some level, I understand what you're saying - the "generosity" of MoveOn can be chalked up to a political strategy...
But Pride cometh before the fall... Happy Holidays anyway.

Its probably due to the fact that Democrats cut military spending every time they are in charge and generally wreck havoc on our military. President Clinton is a prime example, look into the cuts that he made during his administration (the Army is still recovering)...
As for the after care of our troops BOTH parties fail miserable at taking care of troops after their military career has ended due to injury be it mental or physical.

Some Democrats do, Brian Baird, for example. Some Republicans don't, Olympia Snow for example.
But the division is primarilly along the party line.
We are no more or less likely to receive the benefits we've been promised than any other generation. But we don't do it for the benefits.
Speaking for myslef, I'd like to see some of those benefits taken back--it's getting to be an artificial measure of how much someone cares to offer us something else and I don't know that the country can afford all the politically motivated generosity.
If MoveOn is smart they'll send the phone cards over with no labels or indications of where they came from. I, for one, would not be willing to accept such "generosity" knowing the source.
UPDATE: Nothing to do with pride. Everything to do with not being willing to continue being someone else's political wedge issue.

The question at hand and not the page of stuff underneath.
Watch CNN or MSNBC and you should see that the predominant Democratic Party opinion is to attack the troops and the mission after uttering the famous slogan "But, I support the Troops" this of course makes everything alright and it is just the Evil WarMongering Republicans who are to blame for everything.

If I could tell you why politicians act the way they do I would be famous. I can't explain most democrates or republicans. I do know that our country has come a long way since Vietnam. People of all parties support our troops and for that we say, "Thank You".

So sorry but try doing a bit of research and WOW does the truth ever hurt some people.
2006 Army times poll shows that:
9% of the military claims to be Liberal.
45% of the military claim to be conservative.
37% claim to be moderate.
9% declined to answer
Now would you like to rethink your statements?

The troops know who supports them most, and its reflected in how the troops vote.
If you ask a soldier what he thinks of the cowards and traitors in moveon.org he would tell them in a less polite way to move on alright.
Maybe they should take the 250,000 (if thats even true) and give it to the General they slandered.

IPLAY is right. Not to mention that the Democrats in Congress say the right things, except their disdain for the troops is obvious. All you have to do is look at the Benedict Arnold John Murtha to see that.

I hate that and I hate that some people think only one party can win 'the war on terror'. I'm celebrating the holidays with my brother, who is rather liberal, before he heads out to Iraq. We are all liberals in my family and we have all served our nation.

Maybe they will come back and realize what the republicans have done to them and to this country......it is unbelievable what an incompetent president can do....I still don't know why Bush has not been impeached for incompetence and his total ignorance of the constitution. I HATE this war, but I love and respect the troops for their bravery and sacrafices.
