Hi Dilburt,

No actually you can use the genertic type of chocolate chips, try white chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanutbutter chips, mints chips, walnuts, pecans & macadami nuts, chopped candy canes. As long as you have the recipe or LQQK online for it.
Have fun baking & have a good day. :0)
Additional Details: bars are even easier, dark chocolate the shave about 15oz. off-as this makes a much better cookie-quality chocolate good for health resaons also.

Sure, you can use any brand chocolate chips you want. Or peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips, cut up Hershey's miniatures, or M&Ms. I love the Tollhouse recipe, it's my basic cookie recipe.

You can use any chocolate you want. My mom used to buy a dark chocolate bar called York and chop it up herself for choc. chip cookies. That made choc chip cookies that tasted miles better than the little choc chips. And sometimes you'd luck in to an extra big piece in your cookie. LOL

Yes of course you can use ordinary chocolate chips. Or out of the ordinary chocolate chips like white chocolate or bittersweet - or even the special mint striped ones they have out for Christmas.

No. Just use whatever brand you like or can afford. There is always some different brand on sale. Just use whichever you want. You could even use other types of candy in place of the chips. Just suit your own taste!
Blessings and Merry Christmas!!

you can use any choc. chips you want.
BUT the better quality the better the cookie. Splurge and get a dark choc. with 60% or higher coco butter content and dice the bar up. You will still need 12 oz. of choc.

You can use whatever chips/morsels you desire. It's just natural for their recipie to call for their product.
