Prayer life is about Relationship. Prayers of thanksgiving are always welcome. But don't forget prayers of Praise -- prayers to tell your God how awesome, cool, and wonderful He/She/They is/are. So, think of Worship as a relationship, and prayer the means of building that relationship.

Prayer is communication with God. If your mother or father or sibling or child only talked to you just to say thanks how would your relationship be? I know that if my children only talked to me to say thanks I would be saddened. I'm sure our Heavenly Father wants more communication than that. Besides the greatest prayer anyone can pray is not of thanksgiving but of repentance and faith in Christ. Then the thanksgiving pours out naturally.

Thank you does not create a relationship...

It implies that you are trying to take advantage of someone, that you don't believe enough in, to actually devote time too......

Some people glorify it, by saying "thanksgiving" instead of thanks.... But thank you is that short......

I mean if all the time, I took all of good that you were willing to give, without being present and giving of time and energy to you in return, you would be offended. You would feel like I was taking advantage of you...... I was getting all the rewards without doing any work in the realtionship....... It is very one sided and very selfish.........

If all your prayers were prayers of thanksgiving to God I"m sure he'd be quite delighted.

Sure! I think it was that insightful Christian writer Anne Lamont who said her most frequent prayers were "Thank you!" and "Help me!"
