What is the average life span of a toyota camry?

I own a 94 Toyota Camry. It was just given to me last year, w/ only 60k miles. It just broke down due to a human error (it had no coolant and the engine fried)

Is it worth replacing the engine I wonder

Certainly!!! Toyota's reputation is known for its longevity and dependability. You can fix the engine fairly easily. I am assuming that this is a 4 Cyl engine. You can learn a lot by doing this yourself. You will need to remove your cylinder head, have it cleaned and milled (machine shop $50-75) and install a new head gasket. Be sure to use only genuine Toyota parts. Also, be sure to use Toyota coolant, as its special formulation should maintain your new gasket, aluminum and plastic parts in your cooling system, and protect your water pump better than the "green" stuff. You should replace your timing belt at this time as well. Get a Haynes or Bentley manual and follow directions. A well kept Toyota engine will last for several hundred thousand miles with proper maintenance.. If the idea of fixing this yourself is too beleaguering, you can find a perfectly good used one at car-parts.com. Remember to flush your cooling system, either way, and stick to a good quality synthetic oil when repairs are done. Talk to you again at 260,000 miles!!! Good Luck!!

I have a 94 Camry and just put over $1000 in it for repairs -- front axles, struts, new battery, right rear bearing, transmission filter and fluid change and a new tire. It has 206,000 miles. I would like to drive it to at 250,000 miles. In this case the motor is still good and I think it is cheaper to maintain this car than replace it with another that will cost a lot more than the repairs.

In your case you will need to figure out if a new engine will be a good move. How are the other systems in the car? With only 60K and if it has been well maintained then only those things will have to be replaced that normally wear out on any car.

The heart and soul of the vehicle will serve you well beyond the 100,000 mile mark and when you sell it you will find it has retained pretty good value. I would recommend fixing it if you can get it done reasonably.

You could get a great used motor for a few hundred dollars and installed for a few hundred more. It shouldn't cost more than $1000 though, as the first person to answer your question had said. It just depends on how much you like your car, whether or not you're willing to spend that much to fix it.

You could sell your car for parts and make money over time that way, but that might be more hassle than it's worth or you can save that thousand you would put in it towards a newer car. You just gotta make a decision. The car is easily worth at least $3000 with everything in good working order and that many miles.

I have a ninety six V6 LE I picked up @ public sale.. 275,000 and the engine is in tremendous structure. inspite of needing some artwork to interchange the engine MOUNTS, and valve cover.. I see this gem lasting 5 or extra years @ 12-13 ok miles in step with. tremendous autos for advantageous.

Well I would say yes. Toyotas last a long long time. I had a 96 with over 100k miles and it sill drove great

call junk yard and price motor,,then talk to mechanic,,,2500 min and by the time ur done 3500 to 5000,,, for a 14 yr old car??
