Click: Start/Control Panel/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll down to the file extension that you wish to associate and high light it. Now click "Change". In the Open With dialog box, select the program that you wish to associate with this file extension. If you don't see the program that you want, the click "Browse" and navigate to the programs ".exe" file, select it and then click "OK".
You have now associated a file extension with a program. Be aware, if you associate a file extension with a program that can not open this type of file, it won't work. IE, you should associate a graphics file (jpg, tiff, etc) with a graphics editor or viewer, and not a word processor, just as an example.
Hope this helps
