Let me rephrase: Since you believe that an omniscient, omnipotent God inspired the writings of the OT and the NT, there CANNOT be any fallacies and/or contradictions, because then it means that the whole book might be fallible and therefore not a good basis for a "true" religion.

Is this why you feel the need to smooth out any weird, backward contradictions or paradoxes that can easily be found in many parts of the Bible? Or do you view it as an imperfect historical record written by humans, but generally conveys a true message?

I view it as "imperfect historical record written by humans, but generally conveys a true message". It's not something to live by 100% but its a general guide to life. It's not saying dont have fun its saying dont have reckless fun. It's not saying you'll go to hell it's saying you'll live the rest of your life miserable due to your bad actions, like someone that has a bad reputation. They will always be looked down on by someone.

Let me ask you a question oh brainwashed one. WHO ACTUALLY WROTE THE BIBLE? Is God's or Jesus' signature in any of those books? The fact is, yes, Christ walked the earth and was crucified for being psychic. It scared people. Especially those in the seats of power. Sorta' like a witch hunt. Did you know that crucifixtion was the normal punishment for all who did wrong back then? Somebody decided to write a storybook designed to keep pillagers off of villagers because it was a widespread problem. God is the spirit and souls of all those who have gone before you, especially your ancestors. It is those who care about your well being because you will see them soon and be together forever and be happy. We are here on this planet to learn and love because that is all you need to leave here on a blissful flight Home. As far as carrying a true message...How would you know it is true or not, hmmmmm? The old Testament's God (that man made up) was a butthole. Would you pitch your so-called children into an oven for making a mistake? Well, my God would never do that because my God doesn't believe in sacrificial crap nor does he believe in priests raping altar boys. You would be happier living a decent life if you can, and if not, realize you were sent back invitro to learn a lesson you didn't learn before. We go on and always will and guess what, Bible Thumping is out. Nobody wants religion crammed down their throats. Churches make money off innocent people like you every time you pay a tithing. Make one mistake, get ex-communicated and voila, they got all of that money out of you. Tax free I might add. God is in you. Not a building with a steeple. Good luck.

When a very small child crosses a busy street, he/she may not understand all of the ramifications of what can happen. It is up to the parent to provide appropriate instruction, so the child can understand at the level he/she exists.

We are not all knowing and all powerful. The bible is filled with great wisdom about how to live a life of love and balance. Just because people who tout themselves as Christians do not reflect this does not reflect on God. People may create a culture around what they think God is, but will never succeed to truly know an all powerful God.

no... i wouldn't say that. The Bible is book of guidance for us. Its what keeps most who read it in line. It tells how we should act twards others, what you should do if you marry a non-christian, how much God loves you, what will happen on our judgement day... and also facts that porve that God is real. the only thing is, it was written far back. but it says in the bible that it was written for many generations to come, and until Jesus comes back to earth.

no, because the holy spirit led those who wrote the bible, there are no faults in the bible. remember the people who wrtoe in the bible were not exacaly like you and I. There lives were completly devoted to God. God had chosen these peope to write the bible, using their experiences, and their knowledge. But the holy spirit guided them to write it. They just wrote it in their own words.

wow, its really tough to explain. i hoped i helped in some way :)

I believe everything in it was written by God through man. Some things might have been changed throughout the ages because of it being written by different languages and publishers. But if you buy a King James Version, you should be fine. You have to also pray for the knowledge to interprate it or it will be diffulcult for you understand it.

I am not Christian because I do not believe in religion.
I do believe in God.
I do not take an "all or none" stance on the bible.
Of course it's imperfect.
The people who believe the bible IS "perfect" are the people who have not studied it well..

and I do believe they are probably those religious freaks standing on I-35 right now..

Well, to answer your question, either you apply the Ten Commandments to your life or you don't.
However, I apply the Bible to my life everyday and God's everlasting words in it. -God Bless.

"How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

REAL Christians know that the New Testament made the Old Testament null & void, except for historical lessons and prescience.
And of course, there are some human mistakes--it was divinely INSPIRED, not divinely AUTHORED.
