Before I allowed my son to get contact lenses, I purchased a trial pair after he had a contact lens eye exam. The trial pair lasted a month and I watched him when he took them out and cleaned them. I also make sure he washed his hands before he touched the lenses. Before the trial month was over I made a follow up appointment to make sure they were fitiing him properly and there were no problems. Since he did such a great job with them I purchased a 6 month supply and went from there, He's been wearing them ever since and that was 2 years ago. He is now 16.

As far as supplies and care, you can get the daily lenses which get tossed out at the end of each day or the monthly which get changed once a month. I always purchase the brand name saline/cleaning solution. I always carry with me my glasses, an xtra lens case and a small travel bottle of solution in case they bother me and I need to take them out. My son does the same thing. He carries the supplies in his bookbag.

Always make sure you wash your hands before touching the lenses or your eye. This prevents eye infection and keeps debris from accumulating on your lenses.

Good luck.

Hey, I know just what youre going through, i just got contacts a month ago and love them a lot! I had been wearing glasses since i was 8, and hated them! Everyone called me 4 eyes, and other hateful names. Explain to your mom that you hate your glasses, and feel you can handle the contacts. If you explain that to her, she has to give you a chance with them!Contacts are pretty easy if you ask me- when you go to get them, the person that helps you first get the contacts in will explain all of the responsibilities of contacts- don't worry! I love my contacts, and not wearing glasses, well, is AWESOME!
Hope everything works out good- happy holidays!

Well, first you could always get a sample pair from the Acuvue website and try them out. Contacts are great but can become a major pain , like getting something in your eye (eyelash) hurts 100 times worse than it would without them. You have to make sure you soak them properly or you could develop an eye infection.

To wear contacts you must keep them clean and cared for. Prove you can do this by keeping your room clean, doing your laundry, taking daily bath/shower without nagging, brushing and flossing your teeth daily, feeding your pets, cleaning their cages etc etc.

Ask your mom what she wants you to do to prove it.
