I'm going to barrow from BPC's line "you don't want pills or drugs". Notice I dropped the word "if". There is a reason for that. You don't ever want to try short cuts. You want to go natural 100% of the time. It begins with exercise and eating right. YOU MUST eat at least 2,000 calories per day of good food. If you can get at least 45 minutes of walking per day it would be excellant. Exercise and eating right is the best way to increase your metabolism. And drink teas, such as green tea.
If you reduce your calorie intake, your body's metabolism slows down to conserve fat. That fat then begins to add up. My wife didn't believe me when I told her to lose weight you have to eat besides exercising. She was down to 600 calories a day and increasing in weight. Finally she did it my way, because she was loosing hope. BINGO. she started losing. She has lost 100 Ibs and looks great, her metabolism is awesome. Her doctor remarked that she is in perfect health now.

eat alot of small portioned meals through out the day. start bigger at the beginning of the day and slowly decrease in portion later. eat about 4-5 of these meals a day. Make sure they are healthy and fill out the five main food groups. stay away from large unhealthy portioned meals this makes it harder for your body to break down, whereas the small healthy portioned meals are easy to burn and are just enough to keep you full until the next one=)

Eat about 5 small meals a day, rich in protein and calcium, and exercise daily... more cardio than anything.

Eat smaller meals but eat them more frequently. Increase your level of activity and get adequate sleep. Pretty simple, but highly effective....with no artifical ill-effects.
