You do not have to be a citizen to join the US armed service, but you would need to move to the US and to do that you would need to get a resident permit or a work permit and that might be the stumbling block for you.

Go join the British Army or Royal marines and then go for SAS or SBS if you are good enough you will get in, both are as good as US Seals.

You dont have to be an American citizen to join the Navy, however to be a SEAL requires a Top Secret level security clearance. You would need to be a US citizen for that. Good news is that you can become a US citizen while serving in the Navy before going to SEAL training.

Permanent residence is pretty much the ticket that unlocks most enlisted jobs... but what's wrong with the British Armed Forces?

Have you been watching too many Hollywood movies and playing too many video games that feature the Navy Seals, or does the idea of applying for selection to train as a Royal Marines Commando not appeal to you?

Yes you have to be an American citizen. The reason behind this is that as a Navy SEAL you receive a Top Secret security clearance. Without the clearance you can't perform any of the missions.

there are laws on the books allowing foreigners to enlist in the armed services and after their service they are given citizenship. however, you would have to relinquish your british citizenship and become an american and swear to uphold the constitution when you enlist. It would be better to perhaps see if you qualify to join the British SAS. Note that becoming a Seal is a grueling test of physical endurance and how you work as a team member. Same for the SAS.

To be an air force pen pushing seal you do need to be american, you learn great skills like how to hide under a desk and avoid real service abroad by getting out after only 4 years, like a true coward.

It would be incredibly difficult for you to. And if You were to.....be prepared for the harshest training on Earth. I was a United States Army Ranger and I will admit...the SEALS train a tad tougher that we do, and believe You me that's saying something. However You being English, their is one group of troops in Your country that train just as hard and are just as good. The S.A.S. if You were by any chance one of them, You could pass SEAL training no doubt.

I agree with PaddyRanger..join the SAS or SBS I have worked with SAS guys before and they are damn good at what they do

first of all your comparing 2 fairly distinctive amenities. The SBS (particular Boat provider) is extra akin to the U.S. military seals. whilst U.S. military Delta tension replaced into modeled on the SAS. once you asked this question you probably did no longer specify the form of ecosystem and undertaking. apart from, particular forces like those do no longer fairly combat battles interior the popular experience of mass and maneuver. So the question as phrased is very meaningless. with a view to furnish an sensible answer relating to which unit is extra effectual you will possibly desire to have get entry to to labeled information. persons with such get entry to could be no longer able to remark in this communicate board. So the solutions you will get right here would be in keeping with nationalism no longer on any authentic prognosis. you will discover how many of the solutions above are purely dripping with such chauvinism.

no - but you would have a difficult time getting the security clearence if you were born/lived elsewhere - you can't just become a navy seal - you have to start elsewhere - like marine infantry - or rangers
