1 pound of butter is 2 cups but that is the only accurate one I know of. If it's flour you're talking about, pour it into measuring cups until you have none left, then you'll know. i.e. miniature marshmallows weigh less than flour therefore 1 1/2 pounds of marshmallows would make many cups. It depends on what your volume consists of.

1 ½ pounds is a measure of mass.
Cups is a measure of volume.
You really cannot compare the two. However, there is this old saying "A Pint is a Pound the World Around." That saying works for water and many other liquids and substances but not for all.
If that saying holds true in your case, 1 ½ pounds would be 1 ½ pints, or 3 cups.

It depends what you're measuring... 1 1/2 pounds of lead would certainly be a fewer volume (cups) than 1 1/2 pounds of flour...

really no comparison , but if you wanna look at it kinda like that. 16 oz to 1 pound....1 & 1/2 pounds would be 24 oz, a cup has 8 oz.....3 cups = 1 1/2 pounds.....but all things weigh different amounts, you really cant equal this out right

The end figure you are looking for will be different for each substance. For instance flour will not weigh the same as sugar which will not weigh the same as tea and so on.
So without a specific ingredient it's impossible to tell you how much that is.

It depends on the substance. You can't directly translate from a unit of mass to a unit of volume without understanding the density of the substance.

We can't convert weight to amount.
Everything weighs differently so 8oz of water can take up a cup while 8oz of cookies can take up more or less.
1.5lb is, however, 24oz..
