Decline as it has done since the Spanish Inquisition.
It is a VERY slow decline so it leads many Atheists to believe that is is either growing or staying the same. But think about it, back in the day religious fundamentalism was rampant.

In the short term, 1-3 years, they will grow.
Long term, 3-10 years, they will all but expire.
Falseness can't last forever...

I think that religious fundamentalism needs a rebirth. I can see it declining because of the moral decline of it's leaders.

I think it will grow. Christian and Muslim fundamentalists seem to want a war to vindicate their 'prophecies', both religions live for death and an 'End Of The World' obsession...
The more acts of war that they create, the more people will become superstitious and fearful...states of mind that are like breeding grounds for religious thought..

Religion is fast disappearing in Western Europe . It's still strong in the Islamic countries . It is rapidly loosing ground here in America .
As people realize that supernaturals do not actually exist , but are only ancient superstitions , religion must give way to reason , intelligence , lack of superstitions , and common sense . It's happening , but why we're slower than Europe is hard to understand .
Of course , Islam is fifteen hundred years behind the times , so it will take much longer for them to drop their superstitions .

It will decline slowly as more and more people find the leaders of the religious fundamentalists are hypocrites.

The mugs are sending in their "prayer gifts" every day. There's no way it will go into decline while that's happening.

well, Muslim zealotry will continue to grow as long as America pursues it's imperialistic designs on Mideast oil reserves and continues to unquestioningly back Israel in it's harassment and oppression of it's Muslim neighbors.
American Christian Fundy zealotry will grow if they somehow manage to install Huckabee in the White House. the man is a anti-science dolt who will set America back by centuries. if that religious wacko gets into power it'll be American Theocracy here we come and war to jump start the rapture.
PS i sure hope the optimists are correct in their assumption that religious bullfece is on the decline.

I don't see either.
I pray that the fundies will eventually disappear, but I fear that brainwashing is handed down generation after generation.
As far as converting thinking adults, that will become very rare because the fundies have proved that they lack intelligence.
