This is for adults out there. Are you truly happy being LDS, or have you just always been around or raised into the religion?? I am wondering if there are people out there that truly believe that what happens in the Temple is a little creepy. What about G's..... (be honest)Or do you just shut your mouth and say " it was so special" uggg. Anyways I have been through the whole ordeal, (temple and G's)and lived in that religion for most of my adult life and can now see the light. Please answer truthfully, because I know that so many people feel trapped like robots. Thanks

UMMM I guess this question should be asked to people fully living the mormon lifestyle. Please answer if you have been through the temple or have or are wearing garments!

I have seen life both in and out of the Church, and I have found that as I follow the teachings of Christ I am happier than when I do not. In addition to happiness I have found the strength to endure through life's trials, comfort amide the storms of life and a constant sense of peace that is with me, all while I strive to follow the teachings of my Savior.

There are no classes that are meant to make someone happy, or seem happy. It's the culture mainly. Sure, there are some who aren't, and for some it's probably just an act, but for the large majority, it's the real deal. The things we believe, we believe wholeheartedly - ask an exMo, they'll tell you that when they were LDS they were happy a lot of the time (they may say they were brainwashed, or conned into believing it, but they will tell you that while there they were members they were really happy). We take strength from our beliefs and the promises associated with them. When you believe as we do, and live by those beliefs, and understand that when we die here we are only returning to our Heavenly Father where we used to be, then it's kinda hard to not be happy most of the time. But even the most jovial of Mormons have bad days. What causes those bad days may not be on the same caliber as what causes your own bad days but the emotion itself is the same. It's my best shot at an explaination, and is not meant to infer anything about people who aren't LDS. EDIT: Homie, it's because cars require gas money, and since they are paying for their mission themselves, money for food trumps gas money. Also, every few years the mission president sells the cars and everyone knows the fewer miles the better. They are mostly used when traveling long distances, not just a few blocks. I think those who are pointing out that UT has high rates of depression and bankruptcy and things normally not associated with the church, are probably right. I've heard similar stats from members and non-members alike about UT. We're happy. We're not perfect. I know plenty of people who are rich and quite unhappy, and plenty of people who are poor and very happy (and not Mormon either). Also, even if there is a higher rate of depression/anxiety and therefore Prozac use amongst Utah church members, it doesn't necessarily mean that it's ALL church related - but I'll be the first to admit it probably does play a significant role in it. I used to hear, "Live as though you possessed the quality you are searching for and before too long you will possess it." quite often. So it's more of a "I may not feel happy, but I'll fake it and maybe the self-fullfilling prophecy thing will kick in and I'll BE happy" thing.

I am 100% happy because now I am a Mormon... The only thing that makes me unhappy is that I was not raised a Mormon. I converted almost 10 months ago at the age of 18 (I'm still 18 BTW).. I am young, I know, but I feel as if I have missed so many things and even so many blessings. I totally wish I was raised a Mormon. I chosed to be a Mormon by myslef, I said it when I wanted to be baptized, missionaries didn't ask me, I am the only Mormon in my family and group of friends and the church is what makes my life happy.

About the temple, I don't find it creepy, but yes a little different. I was raised a Catholic and I did not know anything about the LDS and much less about the temple.. but when I knew, I also knew that I would like to make these convenats with the Lord and someday have an eternal marriage in the Temple. It is not creepy and it is not secret, it is sacred. Umm... what is a G?

ABSOLUTELY! My life would be so different and empty without the church. It has also helped me raise four strong adults. YES, I FULLY LIVE THE CHURCH AND ALL ITS TEACHINGS. What's wrong with garments?

If people feel like robots and are trapped, they have a problem that they must solve. The problem is them, not the church.

The temple isn't creepy. It is beautiful and peaceful. I have received personal revelation in the temple.

I have been a member all my life. My husband joined the church when he was 18 (he was Catholic). We were married in the temple and his family wasn't there but we KNEW that the temple was the only place to be married. Sure, we could have been married civilly and later be sealed but that wouldn't have been right. It would have felt so empty to only be married for this life.

EDIT: Lynne - before you start spouting off stuff about church history do some research. You are way off base regarding the RLDS church and why they broke away. They didn't prove Joseph was wrong!

I love being LDS. I was not raised in the church but converted about 14 years ago after really fighting against it and being anti-Mormon for a long time. Yes, I am truly happy. I have been through the Temle and am wearing garments, and love wearing them (very warm, and no VPL!)

I didn't find the Temple creepy at all. I loved it and still do. I am not trapped. I go to Church each week because it gives me such a spiritual boost. I have been inactive and not only was I miserable, but no one pressured me to go back to church, so I know that should I ever want to leave I could. But why would I when I get so much joy from it?

Absolutely - 100%. I am a convert to the church and it was the absolute best decision I ever made! I didn't come by it easily, and Temple ordinances were something I struggled with because of all the hoopla I was reading in anti-LDS literature. It was nice to learn that all of that was indeed "hoopla." All of the ordinances done in the Temple of God are sacred and have a purpose. And no, I do not think any of them are "creepy."
I have never felt trapped or robotic and I live in Provo, Utah! The one place I used to make fun of as a non-member. So I'm sorry you've "seen the light." In my opinion, you never trily understood the faith to appreciate it in its entirety.

I'm most happy being a Latter-day Saint and have been since my baptism in September 1965. It is you that has deep-seated problems--not the rest of us.

What's more, I'm not trapped, but am on the right road to righteousness through my callings and service. What do you have besides loathing towards righteous living? The adversary has not only tripped you, but he has enveloped you with open arms to follow his path.

How sad.

I am a convert against my family's wishes. So, no, I wasn't raised in the Church nor did I have any sort of undo influence about becoming a member. that being said:

I love being LDS. Being a member of Christ's restored Church is awesome. I love my "g"...well...maybe not in the summer time. LOL Me and extream heat are just not friends.

The ones I know are very happy. Do not assume because you dislike something means everyone does. I dislike icecream, most people love it.

I'm not but I am going to answer, I believe many are led into this through family or spark of curiosity, but they should be warned how the Bible is rewritten, and why it is wrong, even the RLDS, that started with them ducked out when Joseph Smith was all proven wrong, and then in the backdrop they still have alot of wrong teachings, and yet they say they have no support to luer non suspecting members, they do, so if you have to hide something as that, then you know the whole thing is in cahoots, there is money involved, rules and false promises.
Jesus is the only one we should be looking to, The only Way to the Father is through The Son.
God instructs us not to change the Bible, the mormons done just this, people please open your eyes.
