I like both cropped and natural ears. The cropped ear is what the standard says, and they look great when their ears are cropped properly, nice crop, and they stand nicely. But I also like the natural look, it makes them look softer and more approachable. If you are getting a pet, stick with the natural ears. If you aren't sure you will be able to stick with the taping and follow it thru, then stick with the natural ears. If you like the cropped look, and you know you will take them til the end, and you know that you are getting them cropped by someone with experience and someone who will help with the taping if you need it, then go for the cropped look. It's personal preference. I will say tho, that many people who buy a Doberman and get the ears cropped.. After all that taping.. when they buy a second Doberman, they often go with natural ears second time around.

I have a boxer and his ears are not cropped, but I got him just for a pet and the breeder didn't want the added expense of cropping his ears. My mom has a boxer female that she shows and her ears are cropped. I personally like the cropped ear look better on a boxer, but they have to be done by a DR with boxer cropping experience. I've seen a ton of boxers with horrible pit bull cut ears, not a good look on a boxer. My mom's female is due to have puppies and I'm getting a puppy out of that litter. I'm also planning on cropping the ears. In my experience, boxers with cropped ears have less yeasty ears. My boxer has a lot of ear problems b/c he has the floppy ears and he doesn't get any air flow in them. I have to clean them all the time and its very painful for him and he runs away and barks when I have to clean his ears. I wonder if his ears were cropped, would I have this problem? I really don't think so.. I think his ears would be yeast free and he would have less problems during his life. If ppl have a problem with ear cropping , then they should just not crop. I personally will and thats my preogative.

For ears, tails, and compassion, natural is the way to go. If God had cropped style ears or short tails in mind for boxers or any other dog he would have just given them pointy ears or short tails in the first place. The procedure hurts the animal and it's just more humane to leave them be. Not to mention it's way better looking!

I prefer natural ears on just about every dog, especially those with bigger blockier heads (boxers, pit bulls, Presas, etc). Little pointy ears on a block head look silly. Now, not that I like the procedure, but I think the only dogs I prefer the look on are dogs with angular heads like Dobermans and Beauceron. Fortunately, I only have Belgian shepherds, so they are prick eared as it is.

I like them natural. My Boxer and both of my Dobermans have natural ears and I love the look of them and they are so soft.

I like natural on all dogs. Boxers look so quizzical with natural ears.

I prefer the ears natural - they look mean with them cropped, and it must be painful to have done.
