I like Windows XP Pro and Mac OS X Leopard (10.5.2 once it comes out). Those are about as absolutely high quality as they get.

But all computer companies suck. Every last one of them. I remember the news back in 1998, talking about automatic driving on highways possibly to be implemented in 2002. We're now approaching 2008, and we're still stuck on interface glitches, browser crashes, reprogramming search engines to something no more effective overall, very problematic automatic backup software (Time Machine), Bluetooth insecurities, fixed operating systems (no ability to drag and drop some useful components of your GUI to anywhere that you want for people's needs), a wide variety of still well-underdeveloped open source platforms, and (if this doesn't make your gut wrench, then nothing will), every last hard drive manufacturer out there still using the base-2 system for counting bytes, thereby selling you a 910GB hard drive while labeling it 1TB.

Every last computer company has tons and tons of problems. And can you blame them? With all of the memory-leaking and code-warping crap that people install onto their machines? XP, Vista, and OS X are all extra stable, but the probability that something will go wrong increases with the complexity of the software that you use. Who ever got (or even heard of) a Game Boy to crash? Now take a look at how many people have broken PS3 drives or need to send their stupid 360s back to Microsoft.

At least televisions don't crash yet. Wait for it, I predict that by 2014, we'll be troubleshooting software problems on our televisions. (QUOTE ME.) Think about the fact that people are putting hard drives into these big televisions now. Wherever there's a hard drive, there's an operating system. Watch, we'll see entire television operating systems begin to mimic Vista/OS X (something like a hybrid of Apple's Front Row and DirecTV), you'll be putting your music and movies on your television via Bluetooth version whatever (no more need for a tuner or some clunky equipment), you might even be surfing the internet using only your television, and before you know it, crash!! Time to erase your television!!

It's hilarious now, to even think about these conversations. "Hey, Mike, can I call you back, I'm just repartitioning my plasma." But count on it becoming pretty commonplace in 5-6 years.

At least the timing for this kind of technology to be available is just about right. It's just that THE PEOPLE screw it up by doing things that they aren't aware of that can cause problems. That, plus computers cannot unscrew a problem by themselves. That's for (some) robots.

And, no, I'm not some technologically advanced dude with 22 years of computer certification experience. 22 years is just my age.

I've had multiple computers in the house before Windows 7 was released that had Vista on it and I will say in my own opinion Windows Vista is the worst thing that Microsoft every released. The operating system did become a little better with the service pack updates but not much. Terrible for gaming and it takes an incredible amount of RAM to run decently, the resources that are used are astronomical. I've been running Windows 7 on my computer since it came out and it's been flawless so far, no problems what so ever, all in all great operating system.

HAHAHA, well htis ain't just prevailing with you, now I guess I have found someone whom i can share my WINDOWS problems. It got stuck somewhere in the midst of some work, and I found out that the SMPS was at fault, i got it repaired, but that wasn't the problem, actually the windows was currupt, so I had it reinstalled. A pocket in my hole. Then due to the intel graphics card my ram got shot, had to get a new one. And even now, after spending so much, it still never misses a chance to cause some or the other kind of problem in my pc.
IT IndEEd SuCkS.
And That is because there is a lot of competition too, now you see, more people want some linux or mac, just like you,
So a ReVoLuTiOn Ain't Faaaaaaar DuDe.......

Windows XP was relatively trouble free, but the current Vista version has some problems of shutting down for no apparent reason, and diagnostics say there is no current solution to the problem.

learn how to take care of windows before you run out and buy a mac. you have to learn how to take care of a mac, too.
sounds like your system needs a cleaning.
Edit: spyware is more often the culprit of system hijacking these days. there are also some programs like auto-registrations that cause windows to generate endless loops of error reporting. try using firefox as your default browser.

Clean your computer of viruses, spyware, adware, registry errors, junk files and useless temporary internet files and it will probably work fine (there are various free programs you can download to do that). A Mac would not be any different if you do not maintain it.

Hey, you don't need a mac to have a working/stable Operating System ! Try Linux (or other free Operating Systems like PC-BSD, Syllable,...)

It sounds to me like you might have a virus lurking about in the background. You might want to scan for virii. Freeware ones are AVG and Avast, if you dont already have one installed.

Its not the program it is the user. you have a virus, spy ware, bad hardware, etc.... there is nothing within windows that would cause these problems without something else influencing it.

well, if you have vista, then it is not very good and these kinds of things will happen to you, my advice would be to switch back to xp.
