To expand on Charles C Answer whisky without the E is the spelling for Scotch , It is also the way Canadian Whisky is spelled.

So to answer the question ....there is a time and a place for all . A great Highland Park 18 year old , Some Knob Creek or Canadian Club Classic 12 year old will always do the trick

I prefer a Bourbon or a Tennessee whiskey. A fine Bourbon is sweet and smooth. I find Jack Daniels and Jim Beam to be too harsh.

Bourbon is a kind of whiskey. Rather than using barley, like Scotch, Bourbon has to be 51% corn. There are some other differences in the process. American Whiskeys must, for instance, be aged in new, charred oak barrels. Tennessee whiskey is also filtered through charcoal before being placed in barrels for aging.

Maker's Mark is a very nice Bourbon.

Mmmmm, sweet corn goodness!

P.S. Jack Daniels is actually a Tennessee whiskey. Jim Beam is a Bourbon.
