I work at processing rebates for a living. You mail them in and I process them. Every company has different rules and we have to follow them. If you did not follow the instructions carefully telling you how and what to send in, you will be denied the rebate. If they ask for an original UPC, then you have to send the original UPC, not a copy. We don't care if the item was a present and you didn't want to cut the box. We only care if you have sent in what was asked for. We have to follow the rules. You would be surprised how many people do NOT know what a UPC is. If they see lines that look like a barcode, they send that in. If they ask for the original rebate receipt, original invoice, etc., you have to send in EXACTLY what they ask for. I am not saying that you did not do this, but if you made a mistake or your writing was poor, then that also holds it up. Also, you have to buy the product in the right time period and send for the rebate in the right time period. We check postmark dates on the envelope. And most say to allow 6-8 weeks for processing, so if everything was written and sent in correctly, you should be getting it soon. If you don't hear anything by the middle of Jan, then resend everything you have (hopefully you kept copies for yourself) with a letter stating that this is your second submission. They will get back to you.
Hope this helps.
oh, the actual company - say Danby - does not see the rebates until after they are processed and they only see your name and address and if you sent in what was asked for, so no use writing a letter to them stating how much you love or hate their products. For that type of letter, you have to write to the actual company.
All rebates go to a central warehouse for processing. They do not go to the company offering the rebate.
hope that helps. write to me if you have any other questions about rebates.
I obviously don't have access to you personally, or anyone else for that matter, and if I did, I wouldn't say anything cuz that stuff is private.
I am just giving an overview of the rebate process and how it works.
