well it just stalled and when i start it back up it shuts offf if i start it hand hold down the gas she will stay running when i rev it up it is fine but when she idles down to like 1000 she will go all the way down and stall somtimes she will idle on her own but it sounds like a power surge thru the whole car it revs itself up and down like its starving it to stay running what could it be.

we replaced the temp sensor for the cooling system not the prob. we replaced the idle control sensor it still makes this wierd noise it sounds like it revs up and down she starts up but shuts right down dont it is getting gas the fuel pump kicks on so it is working the emission out the exaust stinks realy bad. to start it u have to hold down the throttle all the way to floor but she will shut right down when u let go of the throrttle what could all be wrong

First thing I would do is post this question at www.clubgp.com - Grand Prix forum with nearly 21,000 members.

Second thing I would do is check for a vacuum leak/vacuum line somewhere.

Third thing I would do is check/clean the MAF sensor with MAF sensor cleaner and make sure all the sensors are connected under the hood.

If your car hasn't had a tuneup for awhile that could be it. Bad coil packs, plugs, wires, ignition control module, or combination of the above...

Good luck, I have 3 grand prix's, they are great cars though!

Pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator and check for gas in the diaphragm and hose. If it's wet replace the fuel pressure regulator. You may also have a dirty throttle body. Take the MAF sensor off and clean the throttle body with carb cleaner.

It sounds like you got water somewhere you shouldn't. There are many things that might cause this. Open the hood and dry it out with compressed air or an old towel. Leave the hood open and let the sun get in there to help it dry. Try starting it later and see what happens.

how many miles 100,000 get tune...ck engine lite on get scanned at advance or other fine parts store 4 free! mayb bad temp sensor,bad throttle possession sensor,,,dirty throttle plate,,,

it this point you should of locked in a hard fault in the computer. It might be cheaper to just get the codes pulled .
