When you have got rid of the millions then you can re-use the jar for say, sugar or flour.

The millions of holes are usually used as a shaker type of jar.. if your looking to season something... the large opening is if you're looking to use alot of whatever you are putting in the jar.

Probalby so if you are giving a spice blend, say, they could use the little holes as a shaker top.

Just like the top of a McCormick pepper can... has a spoon-in section, a free-flow section, and holes to sprinkle.
