Could someone suggest a tried and tested recipe for a diabetic cake please? Preferably without difficult to buy ingrediants (UK) such as shortening?!

It needs to be strictly diabetic, possibly with fruit or the diabetic chocolate you can get in supermarkets. Thank you!

People with diabetes can eat any food on this planet.
We count our carbohydrates and adjust our medication, exercise and portion size to accommodate our needs.
Carbs are carbs. It doesn't matter if it comes from fruit or plain old sugar.
Just make whatever you usually make. There is no need to adjust any ingredients.

I know that the Brits bake with lard a lot so use that and substitute the sugar for Splenda or some other bakeable sweetener. You can also go to dlife.com for fabulous diabetic recipes. Good luck.

Ehm..
If you want to read about a different scientific approach to cure your diabetes I recommend this online resource http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=549

I think that diabetes is a chronic disease (the system asserts that you could reverse your diabetes in 3 weeks) but that said the book is very interesting and "inspiring". It's always good to have different perspectives. Check it out I'm sure you'll find interesting too.
Cheers.
