A micro brew is made by a small independent company. The quality is uneven, but a lot of people like to dabble in these and, hopefully, find one which they really like.

Terri has it right. Most micro brews are regional, because they are brewed in such small batches. It's a lot of fun to try all the different micro brews in your area. Here in Nashville, Market Street is my favorite. You may also see if there are brew pubs nearby. Most brew masters at these places are willing to give you a tour and answer questions about brewing. There's a place here that will even give a jar of there yeast so you can get their type of flavor in your own home brew......well, I'm rambling on......

micro brews are brewed in small individual batches, regular brews are made thousands of gallons at a time, all exactly the same

i totally agree with Ken.

I've had a great time tasting many differant types of beers from many microbreweries. No two breweries taste the same and oddly, most of them are great.
Even the worst micro brewed beer beats what i use to drink: (coors light, miller lite, bud, etc....)

The fun is the exploration.

have a good one!
