Although this question relates to the flood in New Orleans, my question is actually about a TV evangelist, who, I am told declared that the disaster was a sign from God that he does not like Gays (a Lesbian specifically) on American TV.

I would appreciate it if anyone here can tell me the dude's name and even better, a link to his comments. I have been told that the page his comments were published on has been removed (or expired).

TV evangelists are generally charlatans who know little if anything about Christian theology but a great deal in how to get money out of even more ignorant people.
We live in the age of Grace, God does not now punish people for their sins in this life.
The natural disasters now taking place are the direct result of George Bush ignoring the facts of science and pursuing instead war for oil. God is punishing George Bush for his sins. The disaster is a sign from God that he does not like George Bush. (a Republican specifically) George Bush=disaster

Michael Marcavage, the director of Christian group Repent America, told his members it was no coincidence that the storm struck New Orleans just days before Southern Decadence, the city's annual gay pride celebration.

"We take no joy in the death of innocent people," Marcavage--a former Clinton White House intern--told one reporter. "But we believe that God is in control of the weather. The day Bourbon Street and the French Quarter was flooded was the day that 125,000 homosexuals were going to be celebrating sin in the streets. We're calling it an act of God."

I don't think any evangelist should be out there stating why disasters happen. His/Her job is to evangelize only. Bring in the harvest. Did God tell him this? I think not.

Actually, that was a spoof article. It was an article that claimed Pat Robertson blamed Ellen DeGenerous for Katrina, but it was a cleverly disguised hoax.

Now that you know this, stop spreading it around. It is NOT TRUE.

Fred Phelps, his website is godhatesfags.com, the church is Westboro Baptist around Topeka KS. He is one of the most horrible people that ever came along and tried to speak for God. He doesn't even know God.

I hadn't heard that before.

What a poor sad and probably very rich man he must be.

I hope that he has given some of his profits to re building!
