talk to him about being a baptist they believe in god and have a have a comfortable religious belief. Accept him for what he is and allow changes in the relationship. Just because it may be good for you may not be good for him. Go to a Christan bookstore and pick him up a book about different religions so he can decide for himself, and what ever he decides to change his beliefs about try to comfort him unless it is something that you do not believe in then try to get him to see the right way of it.

As I have discussed with many friends of mine, your friend is missing something and is searching. Let him/her search for the missing part of their life. It's their life.
With all the info out there it would be advisable to sit down with paper and pencil and list what they want / what is missing / what is available and make a learned, wise decision. Most people don't. They just flit from one to the next. Get some brains here. Since your talking about religion - how about talking to God about it?

Religion is all abouth faith. Faith is divided into a) 'blind faith', b) 'coached or guided faith' Or c) 'TRUE Faith'.

'Blind faith' is the worst scenario; 'guided faith' is equally bad but 'true faith' is the ideal one. To get to 'true faith' one has to have full knowledge and understanding of what one wants to believe in. This requires physical, mental & spiritual approach & commitments.

When one is so ignorant of the true teachings of his religion one might as well make a choice as to whether to stick or leave. If the said reporter friend is a true Muslim himself then he should try to further guide his friend to remain a Muslim by encouraging him to gain more knowledge and understanding of Islam. I suspect his friend belongs to the 'blind faith' category so much so he knows very little about Islam.

Of course if the said reporter friend is a non-Muslim then there's very little left to be said; anything goes. I feel sad for his friend for wanting to leave Islam.

If you are his friend you should support him if he is feeling insecure but also point out (subtly) the good things about being a muslim

I suppose SUPPORTING him would be out of the question? If you were his real friend you would support him in his decision. So what if he wants to belong to another religion? Is that a crime, now? /:)

he should know what he is converting to, he must study and be able to compare.

this has nothing to do with you. a persons religion is like the deepest thing about themselves. if he/she feels she should convert then they have everyright to. just make sure your not pressuring them into it.

Stand by him. Support him in whatever he does. Religion should be something he choose himself, something he believes in. So yeah. =)
