He will grab aload of my hair then chirp and spread his wings, he does this many many many times, what does it mean?

I would say he is playing with you. My cockatiel used to love pulling on my hair with his beek and he used to like to try and get tangled up in my hair.

Sounds like a mating ritual. Is it a different chirp than usual?

"A mating ritual"??? XD It could be, although the bird is just playing with you. Pet him and cuddle with your birdy. He chirps as if he's waiting on his reward.
