In the US?
Belive it or not Christian Brothers is consistently rated well, and is relatively inexpensive.
It has been awhile since I had any but Presidente from Mexico ( don't laugh too hard ) used to be pretty good.

If money were no object, I would go for a truly ancient cognac. Unfortunately, I live in the real world, so I drink more armagnac. Like cognac, it's a regional brandy. It does not, however, command the high prices that cognac does although it can be just as smooth.

if you are in the uk. most of the supermarkets own brands are very good and reasonably priced. happy swigging and xmas.
