Apparently it can be really quite dangerous for dogs- it was on the radio yesterday with the rSPCA talking about it, I would contact your vet and ask them what you should do ASAP.
Hope she continues to be fine.

i really wouldn't worry unless she ate ALOT of the hershey kisses. I have a choco lab too and he got into them by accident, and he ate them with the foil on, and he was fine. Be very careful from now on, dogs can be sneaky and get into anything you think they can't! They have a very good smell and she found exactly where they are!!! Choco is toxic to dogs, but milk chocolate is the least toxic...its dark chocolate that is the worst, especially baking chocolate. Just be careful from now, and tell miss chocolate lover lab that chocolate is bad for her diet! :)

Chocolate is toxic in large quantities, but a few kisses isn't going to hurt a big dog like a lab. The wrappers should make their way through too.
My Choc Lab ate an entire bowl of Halloween candy a few years back wrappers and all (I told my stupid ex-husband to put it out of his reach!). He had nasty diarrhea for a few days and I had him x-rayd a week later to make sure all the wrappers had made their way through.
I can't even list the things my Lab has eaten and passed over the years!

She really IS a chocolate lab, isn't she?? Ha ha.
Chocolate is toxic to dogs, but normally, unless they eat a huge amount in one sitting, the toxicity builds up over time.
You need to be careful from now on that she doesn't get her teeth on any more, but I wouldn't expect her to suffer any ill effects after this one occasion. Keep your eye on her for the next couple of days, and go to the vet if you notice any change in her health.
As for the foil, it's not likely to cause any problems - they will be small pieces & should pass through without causing any problems.
Again, just keep your eye on her, and perhaps check that her stools look normal.
I don't think you have anything to worry about though.

Do you know how much she ate? Milk chocolate isn't as bad as dark chocolate, but in large amounts it can still be very dangerous to dogs. I would just keep an eye on her and watch her stool. If she is behaving and going normally, and passing the foil, don't worry. Otherwise, get her to a vet.

She should be fine...I have a lab/beagle that eats anything she can get her little paws on and she's eaten various chocolates on several occasions. She also loves salsa, chips, nachos, greenbeans, cat food, hummus, you name it, and she's never had a health problem at all. So keep an eye on her, definitely take her to the vet if she seems different in any way, but I wouldn't really worry about it. Doesn't it stand to reason that dogs in the wild eat all manner of things they probably shouldn't? And granted, domesticated dogs aren't wild, but since we feed them things they wouldn't naturally get, they've adapted, as dogs do. Good luck!!

This happened to my dog. She managed to be sick and all the wrapping came up but if it happens again the vet told me to put some mustard to the back of the dogs mouth as it makes them bring up the chocolate and the wrapping. But she also be checked outed so the vets can determen how much damand the chocolate has corsed. My dog has to be watched as anymore will be bad for her. Hope your dog is fine and recoveres well from her binge.

All chocolate is bad, but dark chocolate is the worst. You can give her a few teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide, if this happened recently..like the last 10 min or so. The HP will make her vomit up whatever she ate. If it was longer than that, I recommend calling your vet, and asking them for symptoms to look for.

It is a big no no it can give dogs diarrhea, and can kill them if they eat enough. However a dog as big as a lab has to eat a lot of chocolate. I would be more worried about the wrapping. My little West Highland White Terrier ate four truffles one christmas and is no worse for wear.

Had a lab that ate a whole 3# box of Valentine candies, leaving the paper cups - smart dog. she lived to be 15. She was also fond of eating Leggos, aluminum cans - go figgure - aluminum foil, plastics of all types, you name it, I found it in her poops. Made an adventure of doing poop patrol with the kids -- the dreaded poop patrol, do we hafta mom? -- You would be amazed at the "treasures" we found.
Onion, grapes, apple cores, nuts (all), raisins, pop corn are some of the serious NO NO's for dogs. They cause kidney and liver failure when excessive amounts are ingested.
good luck with your pup.

Chocolate is like poison for dogs. It is a big no-no as you say. Foil is also very harmful. Many dogs will eventually get into this and eat chocolate and the wrapper. She will probably show signs of diarreah and such. Take her to the vet ASAP if she becomes dehydrated. To tell if she is becoming dehydrated, pull on the scruff(skin on the back of her neck). Pull it up as far as it will go and let go. If it slaps back into place, then she is hydrated, if it goes back slowly or just stays up, then she is very dehydrated and needs fluids.
