I have heard that there were but I thought that was weird because I see very few British shows here. Most of the time I see them on public broadcast stations and they are usually old shows.
If you answered yes to my question why do you think this difference exists?

Yes most of the mainstream American shows are available here, Channel 4 and the satellite provider SKY show most of the top rated dramas and comedies. Whilst the BBC & ITV (teresrial channels) tend not to show american TV but do show Hollywood movies and the BBC has recently been doing collaberations with HBO. The reasons for this may be due to the poor quality of UK shows at the moment we have a facination with reality tv and "Simon Cowell" style shows of which the US has its equivalents so thered be no point in exporting them. Also production values on UK tv would not meet the expectations of us viewers who may expect hollywood level special effects in TV shows like Hereos. Also a lot of TV in the UK is regional and there a great differences in accents and speech patterns in different areas of the uk wich a us viewer may find difficult to understand ( sorry if that sounds patronising), US tv like all US culture has been widley exported all over the world so even if someone has never been there they will understand the programme.

Yes, there are far too many American shows on British T.V. It is because America make so many shows and there are so many American networks, so it is going to be cheaper to buy the rights for a T.V. programme that has already been made than to produce a programme from scrap

Yes, there are loads.

A lot of the British shows only make it Stateside when the rights have been bought and a US production crew has it remade: see 'The Office';Pop Idol, 'Cracker' (known there as 'Fitz'), etc...

Apparently even 'Little Britain' is getting a reworking for the US audience. How? God knows.

I smile as i giv u this ansa coz thurr r load of American showz up in hurr. I think personally dat the UK stations buy these showz coz on one side, if the showz r old, its coz its cheap, but if the shows r brand nu, u only find about 3 nu shows coz dey xpensive & after 2 seasons, some nu shows dnt make sense anymore or pple juss get turnd off about it e.g Errbady Hates Chris after season 2 was CRAP! So yeh, dey r too much American showz up in hurr coz some of the ones hurr r definatly not appealin' to the human SOUL lol...

i must say yes , but i also say that, to me if that is comedy GOD HELP THE U.S.A.
in answer to the second part , it is because the u.k. humour would embarrass the American viewers, with its wit , lack of sex, ugly comedians , but the best in the world.
it is possible the American networks do not want to be shown up by good English comedy.
