Choosing Best answer is a subjective decision.... there are as many ways one chooses as there are people... perhaps even more because the same person may do differently at different times and for different type of questions..... in short I find it so diverse that it is really difficult to discern any pattern here. Is it not possible that someone may choose based on which of the avatars he/she likes the most... I think even that is quite possible!! However, if a question is asked seriously with an open mind, there is a greater possibility that the best gets chosen as the best.

I say what is on my mind and hope that for the most part it helps. I would like to think you chose my answer because it truly was the best. But I think a lot of the people on here do because it is what they wanted to hear.

You obviously have a keen sense of curiosity and a insightful mind. Given those two attributes, I'd surmise that they'd be coupled with a sense of objective reasoning.

Therefore, you will likely chose the answer that best answers your question and not be swayed by flattery or any subjective whims that may be aroused by reading answers that are pleasing to you personally but off the mark of a precise answer.

So, if you choose my answer as best, it'll be a little from column A and a little from column B. :)

Peace

This really is a very intresting question.... What do you want me to say.
Personally I think it depends on what kind of advice your looking for... Lets say you were wondering wheter something you were doing was okay and everybody said no except one person your going to pick them because chances are you woant to keep doing what your doing.
On the other hand if you asked a question ' whats the fastest way to lose a stone' then you will pick whichever one is best...
Its hard to explain but you would pick an answer as ' est answer' for both of the above reasons!

Thats up to you to decide. Id say some people will chose the best answer because its what they wanted to hear and some will chose the best answer based on the best answer. Who knows how you think?

The real reason is because the answerer managed to convinced the questioner that the answerer had the best answer.

The best answer is always voted as the best because the questioner considered it as the best.

probably what you want to hear because it pleases you most and if you gave the best answer it might not be what is exactly what you agree with its just most imformative and thats not always what we want we also want it to be something we would like to hear because we know some people will say what you want to hear and when we find that person we will givethem the best answer becausewe feel they were closest to what we feel and would like to do or would like the most

Because I said what you wanted to hear most. I believe that is nearly always the reason. Normally, I let others vote on the best answers to my questions. Because I know I will be biased. Good question!

I've found many people seem to ask questions they already have an answer to, & are just fishing for support of their opinion/answer.
Often there is more than 1 answer that fits the question, what then? Or if the answer is left to collective voting, aren't we submitting to popular opinion/thought, & perhaps sacrificing the actual answer/truth?
Is it fair to answer the question with a question, or does that mean there is something wrong with the question itself?
these questions I can not answer, only balance them with counterpoints.

Probably a bit of both plus because I gave you the most enlightening points regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the points.

I said "probably" because noone can be sure as it is a subjective matter.
