The signal on my laptop computer (internal wii fi) appears to be excellent, however, I cannot seem to connect to the internet with internet explorer. Any suggestion on what I can do? What could cause this problem?

Are you pulling an IP address? Your computer can show excellent signal, but if you have no IP address, your Internet connection will not work. If your wireless router has WEP enabled, make sure you are using the correct WEP key in your laptop.

Also, try using an Ethernet cable to double check your router connectivity. If your able to get out to the Internet with a physical connection, then you know that you need to check your routers wireless access settings.

What operating system are you running (Vista, XP, 2000)

You didn't mention what your WiFi is. It is YOUR wifi isn't it? You may not know what settings your neighbor has.
Is it a new Linksys WiFi router? Mine gave me trouble right out of the box, and tech support had some new settings. Here is some of the transcript from the tech support guy. If it is not a Linksys router, these may not work at all

Herminio Jr. A. (10532): Can you please confirm the model number and version of your Linksys product?
You: wrt54g v8

You could try turning off your modem/router and waiting 10 seconds, then turning it back on again. You could also try going to the command prompt, Start > Run >cmd and typing "ipconfig /release" and pressing enter, then type "ipconfig /renew" without the quotes.
