Integrity requires reliablility. What brings you to ask this question?
Integrity was a big part of Rand's "rational self-interest." Every hero in Atlas Shrugged attempts to be reliable to his/her customers, but is thwarted by the government.
The answer about someone's little brother didn't make sense to me: What did it have to do with the older sibling's reliablity? That confuses me.

Reliability Is A Whole Spectrum Of Issues That Can Become Subjective. A Blood Test Is 99.999% Reliable, So It Is Very Objective. Is The Person Who Ignorantly Volunteered Gave Permission To Have The Test Asked For The Subjectiveness Once The Results Conclude She Is A Heroin Addict; Does This Give Permission For Others To Treat Her Subjectively In A Controlled Enviroment? So It Was A Mistake For Her To Let Her Blood Be Analyzed, For Once She Is Classified As D (Drugs) She Will Be Treated Differently By Hospital Staff, People In Her Area, Among Other Issues.

LOL. I like this question. In most cases no. Certain cases, yes. For example, the pesky little brother that calls YOU in the middle of the night for a ride. That however is just a matter of inconvenience. A true mistake? It would depend on the negative effects associated with it. Negative effects, in a less selfish way than in the example provided.

Ah reliable! That would be meeting someones expectations. And a person is only truly free when there are no expectations. So, in that vein, you are wasting your time and perhaps persuading someone to become needy and interferring with their inner peace.

I personally pride myself on being reliable I don't seem to be able to be anything else. However I can see that being unreliable has it's good points. And as long as everyone knows you are unreliable there is no decernable social cost either.

when you have a personality and you have a mind to think and take decisions , then why to depend on others , just try to have your own independence and by that you will appreciate your self . and in my opinion a reliable person is the one having lack in self confidence
