I follow my instincts. But with some well-thought judgement too. I foresee what might happen-the good effects and the bad effects. There were a few times I followed my instincts and made the wrong decision. I had to pay for it. But some mistakes had done good things to other people. So it's not really a mistake. My mum saw that my dad's salary was too low to give us a comfortable life. She secretly made debts behind my father's back. For a couple of years, we had a very comfortable life. We kept on malling and enjoying the pleasures of life but the interests built up. And the debts were too high already. Mum had to leave us to earn money abroad to pay for them. Dad blames her for the mistake but she did that only for her desire for her children to live comfortable lives. At least it was for a good cause. So I don't blame mum for the things she's done to us. She may have miscalculated but at least she was able to give us some happiness for a while, too.

I heard or read somewhere that gut instinct was an inbuilt basic survival tool that helped us survive perhaps during the stone-ages (I'm guessing ). I'm also guessing it is linked with our fight or flight reaction. I've occasionally just had a 'feeling' about something or someone and been correct each time. A problem I can relate this too is when people haven't liked when I've worked out through 'feeling' first of all, then working out they are 'under-hand' in some way. Negative vibes from them perhaps. Difficult to explain especially when in some ways gut instinct seems basic.

What do you mean by instincts? If you use in the biological sense, well, there is hardly any behaviour which would be called strictly instinctive, all most all behaviour in humans are learnt unlike in animals where all most all behaviour is instinctive. On the other hand, if you are using the word in the sense of intuition, yes, if you rely on it ,it helps a lot; many that cannot be figured out by reason is sorted out by intuition.Yet the problem is how to access our genuine intuition? Many times it may be just our wishful thinking!

If i'm sure it's my instinct then i'll follow it, because i know in my heart it's the right thing. The hard thing at times is knowing what is your instinct & what is your mind.

When mothers frequently spoke to their infants, their children learned about 300 more words by age two, than did children whose mothers rarely spoke to them.
