300 Spartans and thousands of Thespians. Don't forget the Thespians, no not actors actual Greeks from the town of Thespa. They helped hold off the Persians too and deserve some credit. The 300 stood alone only after a the hidden goat path was found, Leonidous sent all but his soldiers back to warn the rest of Greece.

Thermopylae was fought by over 5000 soldiers and slaves, not just 300 soldiers that the movie depicted. and all, but one was killed. they were delayed not defeated. the 300 spartans had slaves and 1000 or so thespians at the ending battle. American movies are not very factual.
