Under Justine McGuiness the McCann positive PR machine was rocxky but generally kept their public image intact, and the general public sympathetically on board. Despite her expenses row.

But since Clarence Mitchell took over he released a series of far fetched stories to the media which just came across as McLies, he allowed the mortgage scam to get out, he allowed the director of Metodo 3 to open his mouth with a series of dumb claims about finding Madeleine, he allowed the McCanns to go on National TV and look like McLiars, and now the PR machine has fallen flat on its face that 'the McCanns banned Xmas'

Isnt it time that Clarence went back to defending Gorden Brown, with all the trouble he is in, rather than ruining the McCanns lives any further ?

Clarence has applied the principles of New Labour spin to his work for the McCanns. Trouble is the principle behind this crude methodology of lying was rumbled by the public years ago, which has led directly to the low trust ratings politicians have in this country today. Now the McCanns are suffering from similarly low trust ratings. The people they have hired really have not helped their cause, though the establishments willful refusal to recognise the McCanns culpability in neglecting their children is significant in a society that has such a low rating for children's happiness and wellbeing in international terms.

I don't know what Clarence Mitchell's gameplan is, but I personally think he has not done the McCanns a great service. He exemplifies Labour spin and ordinary people can see right through it. So much of what he says is pure blather.

I think McGuinness quit the McCanns because she had another job to go to. I think Mitchell joined the McCanns because he didn't have another job to go to, and was guaranteed a healthy salary paid for by the Fund.

I also think the Fund managers, or at least one of them, have a lot of experience with the media and should have interviewed candidates rather than awarding the contract to Mitchell. Not only is he not up to the job, he was loathed by some sections of the media before he got involved with the McCanns.

Maybe it's time for Team McCann to clean house, starting with their detective agency, then their PR manager.

Just realised my thoughts are very much in line with Ketkonen's...

I don't think the McConn's lives's are ruined yet? and I think everything that has happened has suited them, from the flirtation with the media and high profile attention and financial backing, that is until anyone dare question them! The McConn's might be Doctors but they come across as very 'dim' and regardless of what they do or don't do now, they have burnt their bridges as far as Madeleine is concerned and any decent person. They have told this 'story' and whatever, it's not going to have the 'McPlanned and McHopeful' ending...

I'm sorry, but Clarence is there for the money, and the money alone. £75,000 a year is not a bad offer to stand there and make a couple of statements. and he's only in it for the nice pay-off. Everything he says makes the McCanns look worse, and in my opinion they should sack him before he causes any more damage.

No-one is responsible for the McCanns situation today. What this relates to is their lack of responsibility for the monies sent in by sympathisers, as well as their greed and total disrespect for the concern of the public, in the way they had wantonly delved into funds for their own purpose.

Nothing to do with the missing child. More questions than answers.

Absolutely. Mitchell's cocky, arrogant, an egotist and a bully. Kate and Gerry should be very wary of their association with this creep.

He has tried to help the McCanns unlike you who revels in their loss of a daughter to compensate for your lack of a life and/or any feelings whatsoever.

Do you work in McDonalds or why do you insist on putting a "Mc" in front of everything. I guess you're dumb enough to work in McDonalds
