First of all, you are a wonderful person caring for your mother! I'm sure you sacrificed a great deal of your childhood being her caregiver.

I'm assuming she is under 60 years of age. Try calling the Dept of Human Services. There is a program called DORS that I believe you can get paid for helping your mom... like it would be your job. I don't know alot about this program, but I do work for the Dept on Aging and we have a public aid program for seniors where someone comes in to cook meals, do housekeeping, help with bathing, drive to dr appts, etc. I think DORS is similar, but for those under 60.

And I agree... if she isn't already on Medicaid you should apply for her. If she is accepted it will pay for her medical care.

Best of luck to you!

You should contact your local Social Services or ask her doctor who would know the answer to this question. Is someone else in the family working and earning money? It may be better to have Public Aid pay for some home care for your mother and for you to go to school.

It sounds like your mother is very sick. That must be scary and sad for you. Do you have other relatives to help you with your feelings or can you talk to a school counselor or to someone at your church? You need to take care of yourself as well as care for your mother.

You Need to Apply for Illinois Medicaid. It'll cover all of her Medicine, Feeding tubes and other medical devices. If she gets SSI she should be getting it now.

You want to get paid to take care of your mother? Up until you were 9, she took care of you. And you say you are 18 now-which means you put your 9 years in & you're even? I cannot believe you would even think like that. You should just take care of her because you love her-period.
Maybe, just maybe you can get some government assistance, but you should search in your area for this information.
