View Friends is a way to get information about a person. For example, I have used "View Friends" to see if the person I searched for was really the person I wanted to contact. For example, if I was looking for a John Smith who I knew in Indianapolis, I could see his/her friends. If many of them were in Indiana, then it would be a good guess that this was the John Smith I was looking for. Hiding the View Friends link would make it harder to find people this way. You would have to have the person's e-mail address to be sure it was the John Smith you were looking for.

I guess if people don't want pictures of themselves to be seen easily.
If their friends list was viewable, anyone could just look at their public friends, who would, in all likelihood, have pictures of that person.
If you know what I mean.
