I'd vote for Wolfgang Mozart. He died at 35. Imagine what he could have done with another 35 years!

I vote, let's see if we can clone him. Second choice, Schubert, who died at 31.

I'm sorry you said musician, not composer, I realize that probably all compsosers were musicians but if you would have wanted composer then you should have stated composer. The reason they are called composers and not musicians is because they were famous for composing not playing.

Musician: Jacqueline Du Pre, Pablo Casals, Jascha Heifitz, Yehudi Menuhin, William Primrose, Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Giovanni Bottesini, Nicolo Paganini, Luigi Boccherini, etc.

Composer: Stravinsky, Wagner, Shostakovich, Barber, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Copland, Britten, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, Borodin, Tchaikovsky....the Liszt goes on...

You asked for a musician. Then you chose a composer. From viewing all of your responses so far, I assume you have realized your mistake by now.

Just for the sake of completing your question, I will choose one composer, and one musician.

The composer: Richard Wagner.

The musician, a pianist: Artur Rubinstein: in my opinion, the greatest of the 20th century.

There wouldn't be any need for cloning these composers, if the young musicians of this century could only compose music as beautiful as these famous composers did.

With my luck, my chosen musician would want to be a bricklayer. The gift of music is a fleeting one!

Chopin. I love his music, espacially Fantasie Impromptu.
If I can clone him, I'd ask him to be my music teacher.

Beethoven ; and this time he would not go deaf. We could fix him up with a hearing aid.
