Murdoch is an American citizen, his mother lives in New York and his corporation is now US based and has been for many years.
As for 'why' ~ same reason as why the US wants to rush into affairs all over the globe ~ money and power.
When you owe TRILLIONS in national debt, a lot of it thanks to a war not many others in the world support, you are at the mercy of your creditors ~ the traditional Euro bankers and also the Chinese.
You owe, you pay. Until then, they've got your finances on a leash!

Murdoch is Australian by birth.
Also, Tony Blair flew to Australia back in the day to BEG Murdoch to help him get elected PM.

what do you think CNN, NBC, CBS, NY Times have been doing all these years? They are not dictating anything, they all slant a certain way to attract a certain viewer. They are businesses to make money, not run the world. the more viewers, the more advert money. If FOX is popular it is because people are sick of the left wing agenda of all the other media, so they watch a channel that is more aligned with their take on things. grow up you starry eyed lemming.

Murdoch gave up his Australian citizenship to become an American many years ago, and frankly, as an Australian I'd say you're welcome to him....
By the way, the first poster is correct: the US dictates to the world all the time.

US is dictating politics in many countries like Iraq, Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Croatia, Palestine ....etc...etc.. So whats wrong if the reverse happens?
