Me smells a LARGE troll. If you have the funds to build a 9000 square foot home (60 per sq foot in my area would be cardboard) at around 2.2 MILLION you would not need to come to Yahoo to ask such a question you would have already found out through local sources etc.

Normal cost of construction of 9,000 sq.ft. home with some other things including parking acco and kitchens etc should be about ..... $ 60x9,000= $540,000 excluding the cost of land. But, you need more than those. That's why an additional sum of $60x1,000= $60, 000 or more will be needed. It's a gross estimate , subject to a maximum of extra10% of of $ 600,000 i.e. $ 60,000 more.OK?

Make a budget of $540,000+60,000+60,000 = $ 660,000.... or .......$700,000. This will be fine.

Acermill smells about the same things on his end. Either a troll, or a pair of people who would make a box of rocks look like Albert Einstein.

If you are looking to build a house of this magnitude, hire a professional architect. Yahoo Answers isn't the place to even start.

You guys are absolutely correct. Here in NJ, the going price is 100-200/sq ft depending on the reputation of the builder and the upgrades involved. I would expect no less than 900K to 1M for a house that size (not including land).
