While going to meet some friends that I haven't seen in 2 years, I hit a parked truck. I was pulling in to a parking space right next to it and didn't realize how badly the SUV was parked next to me. I hit the truck trying to avoid the SUV. I quickly got out and checked the damage to the truck. I left a really big scratch on the passenger side. I got a piece of paper out of my purse and wrote my name, date, time of accident, insurance information, and my car info. I even left my cell number and a note to please call me so we can exchange the information properly. I then wrote down their license plate number and the type of truck it was. I couldn't see the year of the truck but it looked 1-3 years old. When I left the mall 2 hours later, the truck was gone. That was at 6:17pm on Thursday. They haven't contacted me yet. My insurance is under my parents’ name, and they told me not to inform the company until the owners contact me. Is there anything else I can do?

The note might have blown away. Or they cant be bothered about getting it fixed, they could be good hearted as you obviously are, and think not to bother with making you pay for just a scratch and all the hassle with paper work to get repaired. Don't worry you have done everything possible and if you hear nothing then that is your pat on the back for being honest. Wish there were more people in the world like you. Well Done.

Unfortunately, you gave them your insurance policy info, so they might just call in the claim themselves. This is assuming that nobody removed your note from the parked truck and the driver actually got the info.

You need to go to and get an accident report form from the police department (best to get at least 2 to keep them on hand for the next time). Fill the form out as best you can. Photocopy it and send it in. If the other driver does contact you, then get the rest of the info you need and refile the accident report (Mark the second filing as an amended report).

Well to start with i would like to say that you did everything right and that your parents should be proud that the raised you right. Your parents are right the owner of the truck has got to make the next move . Untill the owner contacts you there is nothing else you can do .

first of all, put down the mouse and the remote control and pick up a news paper and a book. in yesterdays paper a report came out about how the smallest of damage to vehicles is expensive.. so a reasonable person could conclude the damage is more than a hundred dollars and by law you must call the police....you may want to put moisturizer on your wrists. they gonna hook you up with sone stainless steel bracelets

You have done what you need to do. Now wait for them to contact you or your insurance agent. You don't need to do anything more at this point.

Thanks for doing what you did, I'm glad you did the right thing.

You did the honorable thing. If I were your Dad, I'd be proud of you (but of course not very happy about it happening).

I'd say that the ball is in their court. You did your duty and now it's up to them to call.
