Hi can someone help me out, what graphics card is better...

BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT 512MB Video Card - 150$

MSI GeForce 8600GT,512MBPCI-E DX10 - 140$
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So which one would be better, the 8600 is cheaper than the 8500 i don't know why, but it is. It's MSI though and 8500 is BFG. So which would you recommend in getting, i'm not sure which one would be better.

Also for 8600 i'll have to update the power supply *watts* to 400, which is another 50$ or so. For the 8500 I don't have to upgrade it, so what would you suggest in order to play games like Crysis, COD 4, as well as other games in the future like GTA 4, and NHL 09 when it comes out next year, would the 8500 be good enough?

Check this site for REAL specs of REAL cards:

Seriously - all the fat sheet you ever wanted to know!

the 86 seems to rip the haas out of the 85

BFG Vs MSI? I'd save a tenner, get the faster card and not worry about it - I'd not even get a new PSU until I know I need it (ie after I've tried the whole rig out).

You DO have to consider whether you'll play any DX10 games - do you have Vista? If not then you don't need a DX10 card for now but if you have ANY plans to get Vista sooner or later, a card that won't run DirectX10 is POINTLESS.

That's what I think :)

The 8500GT is much worse than the 8600GT, most likely because of the brands.

Though i wouldn't recommend getting either of them.

The x1950pro is DX9, though it is faster than the 8600GT by a good margin. The 8600GT is not fast enough to utilize DX10 for gaming, it was made mainly for incoding/decoding.

all i know is that your second choice is far more better in showing graphics because it supports directx 10 but the first one may be higher because it may be more stable
