Why do a lot of people hate Americans?

Americans aren't as bad as people think. Sure there may be some cocky people but there are A LOT of asians from asian countries that have usernames such as "Asian Pride" but if any american had a username as "American Pride" would be labeled as too cocky.. americans aren't greedy. Majority of them would like to help people. read this

1. American truly are the most free people in the world and in countries that do not think people should make their own choices, this angers those fundamental groups.
2. The American news is watched by everyone around the world and since the news exaggerates everything bad, this is what other countries see of us.
3. Surveys have shown that Americans work more hours a day and take less time off than any other population in the world. Because we work so much we have less time to worry about what is happening around us. We put too much faith in our politicians, ministers and pastors, and any other people in leadership roles to do the thinking for us in those areas. These leaders do not represent true America, but the rest of the world has no other point of view to see us as.

There're Americans as a whole and there're Americans as individuals. There is the aspect of America that is to do with politics and foreign policy. There is the American culture - which is actually many different cultures and so means many different things.
And then there are Americans as individuals. I tend not to think of people as part of a nation although I believe in the importance of a national identity. So I don't give a thought to America as a whole - just individuals.

i am canadian, but i have no views on different nationalities, its what got us in the whole black people vs white people thing wayy back in time, which really wasent that long ago

Well Americans are the worlds most donating country. It adopts more children than any other country in the world...I beleive they are ofcourse helpful.. But u know what because of the sin of one the all race have to suffer...... As Mr. Bush started attacking the name of Americans have dropped down and but before this it was good to be American.. Proud to be American .... But now the things going on in Iraq and with the GUantanomo.. and all that has made America suffer even financially as well as socially ... If you dont respect the lives of others then how can you expect to be respected ...... The same way with all muslims.... how they were degraded in their starting years after 9/11 just because somebody did some brutal s***t and nobody is sure who did it.....

Surveys like this my dear are so full of hot air it isn't worth reading or remembering,why?I a disability pensioner can still find $15.00 a couple of times a year for some sort of good cause.As for a certain nationality been worse than another it depends on the individual.

I really think people hate what they don't know too much about. A lot of people are misinformed. I blame the Media, all media. It is all garbage and everyone buys into it. It would be nice to be without media. The US is no different than any other "free" nation. They are good and bad in every nation. I mean how many horrible people do you know personally? I bet you know more caring and nice people than killers?

In my opinion people hate Americans because their morals, values and standards are not political correct. We are one of the richest countries that don't help our people AMERICANS. Nobody hates Americans more than the members of our government. Except maybe the ones currently running for president--those are a real bunch of American Haters--specially Mitt and Huck. But Hillary and Obama hate America too, it's not just the Republicans.

I agree with you 110% Sarah, I brought this subject up and it ended up getting "deleted" I suppose some people do not like to be confronted with the truth.
I belive people stereotype us, just as they do someone who is "not American" i.e. Pakistani. I have been dating a infantry officer for 2 yrs now who went over "In the invasion" yet he gets "to this day" called names and made jokes about. But he has a great sence of humor about it. He is very smart and knows those things come from uneducated people for the most part.
