It all depends on which game you're talking about. In Ocarina of Time, Link s the hero who must save Princess Zelda from Ganondorf by obtaining the Master Sword, which he can use to switch between his adult self and his kid self, which is very handy in the different temples.

In Majora's Mask, which take place AFTER OoT, Link is traveling through a forest when a Skull Kid with an odd mask attacks him and steals Epona(his horse). So, Link chases after the Kid and when he finally catches up, he is transformed into a Deku(pretty much a waking tree that blow bubbles and spins) and falls into a lighthouse. From there, he must figure out how to get back to normal and find his Ocarina. After he changes back, he gets the Deku mask, which allows him to change to a Deku and back whenever he wants, this also gives him the ability to burrow into flowers, pop out, and fly for a short time and hop on water for a little . Later he gets the Goron mask, where he becomes a Goron(a walking rock) who's attacks are POWERFUL punches and rolling, Finally he gets the Zora mask, so he can become a Zora(walking fish), who can swim under water with MANY other abilities. Over time you can grab other masks with many abilities.

In Twilight Princess, you are a teenage Link who suddenly becomes terrorized by the Twilight, a race of people who aren't dark but aren't light and gets the ability to transform into a wolf with many abilities. There's more to it but thats all thats really to be said.

In Windwaker, Link is a coming-of-age boy who is allowed to go on adventures his island home. He eventually meets this talking ship who helps him find the keys to the master sword. It also goes into too many details but it is a great game.

Then we have Phantom Hourglass, where Link is travelling with pirates and is captured by the Ghost Ship. Now Link must travel all over and gain the power to defeat the Ghost Ship. Again, too many details.

There are still 8 other games for Gameboy Color, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Entertainment System, and SUPER Nintendo Entertainment System.

So now the systems:
Ocarina of Time-Nintendo 64
Majora's Mask-Nintendo 64
Twilight Princess-Nintendo Gamecube and Wii
Windwaker-Nintendo Gamecube
Phantom Hourglass-Nintendo DS
Legend of Zelda-Nintendo Entertainment System
Adventure of Link-Nintendo Entertainment System
Link to the Past-Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Link's Awakening- Game Boy and Game Boy Color
Oracle of Ages and Seasons-Game Boy Color
Link to the Past: Four Swords: Game Boy Advance
Four Swords Adventure-Nintendo Gamecube
Minish Cap-Game Boy Advance

I hope this is informative!

the legend of zelda was simply the story of princess zelda's capture and rescue. it was on the nintendo, which didn't have the best [in-game] story telling, because there was only so much info one could fit into an 8-bit game. however, due to the lack of info, imagination can play a large role.

when i was in second grade, or third grade, back around 1989, besides the fact that on fridays, the super mario super show would be zelda, there were also books.

zelda was the holder of one of the three triforces, the triforce of wisdom. this part of the triforce was a remnant of the era of the gods, and was passed down in the family of the rulers of hyrule.

gannon was a thief and also a magic user, and came onto the triforce of power. he wanted the other two triforces to have access to the golden world, and the chance to have a wish granted, so he kidnapped zelda to get her triforce.

the third piece was held by a young boy, a hero that was to save the land of hyrule - the triforce of courage.

the 'legend of zelda' is the telling of the tale of the rescue of zelda by a young boy named link

many people are not aware of this little fact: there are only two games that have the same main character [link] - gamecube's windwaker and ds' phantom hourglass. every other game was the story of different characters playing the same story - with the exception of zelda II: the adventure of link

Its a third person RPG game that has allot and I mean allot of puzzles. The point of the game I guess is to defeat Gannondorf (the bad guy) and save princess Zelda (the girl held prisoner of the bad guy) and you play as Link (the hero of the game) then you fight Gannon to save Zelda.

what!!!!!!!!!!!

its the best game ever made....duh

no really...the legend of zelda goes like this...the princess fell into a deep slumber right..because of her brother and an evil sorceres (ganaon's) fault....anyway...her brother felt bad ...so since her sister (zelda) was asleep....he agreed to name EVERY following daughter to the hyrule throne named ZELDA...then link came..he saves the kingdom and ...then restores zelda by means of restoring the princesses triforce piece....{THE END...}
