betrayal seem to be the key to it all, everything else can be worked out, but infidelity forever ruins any chance of ever working the problems out. it destroys ones self worth, the feelings that they were ever loved by their mate. its the end when it happens. many things cause the infidelity to begin, that is if they are that kind of person who won't work on problems, who would rather go find someone new whenever problems come.

Infidelity and money are usually the main reasons people divorce but sometimes people just grow apart, dreams that once was headed in the same direction have gone separate ways and reality has set in and you're going in different directions, it's just not working, also sometimes it could be that one or the other is very controlling of the other that makes for a bad marriage as well, so what once in the beginning sounded great has now fizzled out.........

1. Rushed/felt forced, into the marriage.
2. Cheating.
3. Lack of communication.
4. Similarly, ineffective communication (i.e. constantly fighting -- can't even agree to disagree.)
5. Lack of trust (often due to insecurities.)
6. Dishonesty.
7. Can’t compromise (there’s got to be ground rules + middle ground.)
8. Lack of respect.
9. Too much time together OR not enough time together.
And, as other people have mentioned, money. That, unfortunately is definitely a reason people get divorced --- whether it's because they want it, or they constantly bickered about it during their marriage, or whatever.

Why would being in a horrible marriage be a reason to get divorced? I can't speak for everyone but the reasons that I had were MORE than worth it and I am thankful everyday for the experiences I have had and the opportunities to grow. I know that if I was still there... I might not still be here.

Money and infidelity seem to be really big. Most of them are not bad decisions but some people do not want to work at it. It takes work to be married and some people do not realize that.

MONEY! money is the leading cause of divorce!
and when you think about it, it makes sense.
Infidelity I think came in 2nd or 3rd place.
Money so far is the leading cause. =]
