and the guy told us what kind of starfish he was...it started with a B, but I soooo cannot remember what kind of starfish it is...if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!! :)

I'm not sure what name you were told (that's the problem with common names, everyone has their own for the animals). I've seen them called marble stars, or tile stars. The genus name is Fromia.

Can you get a picture of the front of the star? I cannot tell from the bottom is it a linka? You can also ask on the following web site they can answer any questions you have.

I agree with copperhead. It looks like a Marble Sea Star (Fromia sp.) to me too.
