Say that theoretically that the results are similar, just attained differently (one through running, and one through passing.

I know some people absolutely love the running quarterback thing, but I would rather leave that to my RB and let my QB focus on throwing.

The results could never be similar: No running QB in the modern NFL could produce like Manning does. The defenses today are just too fast, no QB could dominate with his running. Add to that the fact that running QBs get hit often and are more susceptible to injury. Also, when was the last time a running QB won the Super Bowl? Both Steve Young and John Elway averaged less than 25 rushing yards a game (sometimes much less) during their Super Bowl years. Other than that, running QBs just don't win in the NFL. So there is no real way that a running QB could produce like a pocket passer in today's NFL.
Vick's greatest running seasons produced 1039 yards (2006) and 8 TDs (2002). Nice numbers (the first is an NFL record) but Manning passed for 1066 yards and 8 TDs in just the month of September this season. So Manning equaled Vick's greatest seasonal running stats in only one month with his passing and he had 12 more games to go.
This is an easy answer: In today's NFL, you win with pocket passing QBs. Running QBs are fun and all but they just don't win and don't produce like a good passer. I'd take Manning any day over Vick (forgetting the extra stuff, of course).

Michael Vick, Tavaris Jackson, Vince Young - none of those "running" QB's are worth a damn. They never will be. Vick ran for 1000 yards, thats awesome that is extremely exciting to watch, but it does NOT translate into success. I dont even like Peyton Manning, but he is the prototypical QB. He is the guy you want. These "running" QB's cant pass for crap (look at those 3 aboves stats passing, horrible) and passing is their job, NOT running! Passing QB's are the way to go and they are the constant throughout football, it will NEVER change i guarantee it! Thats why the Mannings, Favres, Bradys, Romos, Hasselbecks, Brees' (etc) are always successful. Look at the top QB's of each decade, of all time, and in todays game. What do they all do well? PASS!!!

While Vick manage to win some games scrambling around and using his athletic ability, the chances of his team ever being in a championship game were slim, that's because no matter how much athletic abilty he might have,it's better to have a passing quarterback than one that just runs,Bobby Douglass with the Bears in the 70's was a running quarterback that set rushing record for quarterbacks, but his team didn't go anywhere

Peyton Manning by far. No one has won a Super Bowl with a running quarterback. They are all pocket passers. Vick was an overpaid running back who had a strong arm but no accuracy. They have plays in the playbook for guys like him who can throw once in awhile.

NO DOUBT Manning but i dont agree with jihadi killer Peyton is the best. The only one who can contest that is farve bc he might be the best ever. Come on Tom Brady is the luckiest QB to ever play the game. 1st he came in the league when the Pats were the best and won 3 super bowls. 2nd he would not have a 1 if it weren't for adam vinatieri. 3rd that snow game is a prime example of how lucky he is I think invinted the "TUCK" rule right then and there, even if they didn't how lucky is it to come in the league the year that they do!!!

Vic is like the former eagles QB Cunningham. Great stats at running with the ball, but no championship. Manning on the other hand, stays in the pocket (and very well protected at that) and fires away all day long with completed passes. He is good. Did I just write that? I dislike the guy. LOL. He is good nevertheless.

GO PATRIOTS

Manning, & Brady are both prototype QB's.The top 2 in the NFL.
Mike Vick was/is a great "athelete", BUT a mediocre QB. He is un-disciplined, not "coachable", does not take on the blame for HIS failures at the position. He's blamed his poor/inadequate performance on his offensive line, & his recievers. That tells me that he's NOT a leader. NOT a QB of the calibre needed to succeed in the NFL.

Peyton Manning he is better QB..

Michael Vick is not really a QB but a RB who can throw ball very well.. (Nevermind his dog fighting involvement)

Yeah I mean Michael Vick was amazing to watch, and while he was sometimes inaccurate, when he was accurate his receivers dropped balls a lot. Vick has a cannon of a arm. So surround him with some good wr's like Peyton Manning has and we'll talk. Not that it will necessarily matter anymore. Also, Manning has somewhat struggled without Marvin Harrison.

What happened to Marcus? He was supposed to be able to throw better, and be almost as fast?
