So they have DUI (Driving under the influence) and DWI (Driving while intoxacated)
They mean the same thing, what is the diffrence of them?

The only reason why I ask is because I heard a conversation eariler of someone saying they are better to have a DUI than a DWI.

It kinda depends on the state you are in and which they consider worse.. i think it depends on the level of your intoxication/drug use. If you are incredibly intoxicated im pretty sure its a dwi. sometimes people can get their lawyer to get it lowered to a dui. I dont understand why they do it either it seems so dumb, why not just have one ticket for it, who cares if someone is mildly intoxicated or wasted, it should be the same.... i hope i answered your question :)

In Missouri, they are one and the same.

The only difference is DUI is used for drugs, and DWI is for alcohol.
