I am like that! I would much rather listen than talk and I too have a lot of people who want to be my friends! I believe it is because I am a good listener and I really do care about people & their problems! People know I am sincere! Hope this helps*

Overall, I have a strange way of looking at this sort of question. What if, by some freak accident, you were to lose your ability to speak? If we went by the assumption made in the original question posted, then you would never have any hope of ever finding friends, or acquaintances at school. After all why would someone like you if you were there to give them a hug when they had a bad day, or help them pick up their books when they drop them? Why would somebody enjoy having you around when you stand by them, after everyone else laughed and walked away? Or when grieving at a time of loss, you walk up and put a supportive hand on their back, and hand them a Kleenex. None of those things requires a word to be said, and in truth words would make most of these things less meaningful. So, try to keep those things in mind when you question someone's motives, or how outspoken they are. You could miss out on meeting someone who's an awesome person, who doesn't happen to talk a lot ;-)

Well, you don't have to be loud and boisterous to have people like you. A quiet and shy person is probably also very honest and sincere. This makes others feel comfortable around her. And if she's got a warm, welcoming personality, that also would make people gravitate to her. Sounds like me! I understand this girl perfectly! Loud and bossy might attract attention, but I think most people would not attach too closely, as people like that seem too controlling and insensitive to others. If you don't really know that girl that well anyways, I'd say it's truly hard to judge by making assumptions anyway. If you want to have people gravitate to you, always show your interest in them and this opens the door. Be a good listener. Talk less about yourself and ask questions. This makes the connection with anyone.

I have no idea, but I'm one of those people. :)
I'm guessing she must be a very enjoyable, yet shy, person. In front of people she tends to keep quiet and listen rather than engage. But when she's in a more comfortable setting she's being more talkative and outgoing at least with a couple of people.
Perhaps you should try and get close to her, you two may become friends! Just because she doesn't talk doesn't mean she doesn't want to make friends.

Sometimes its not the things a person says that makes people like them. Have you ever heard of the phrase "actions speak louder than words" ? I was very shy in school but I still had a lot of friends. Shy doesn't always mean stuck up or snobby.

They love to hang out with them because they are quiet and will listen to them without being interupted by another. The quiet one allows the friends all the attention they seek. Its more of a control issue I believe.

Sometimes people just like to stay quiet until they're around their good friends, so they can just be loose and carefree. That's probably why everyone loves them. Maybe they just are shy in public and a party animal in private, haha.

The quiet and shy people probably like themselves. They do give approval of things to do, add in comments and do enjoy being around other people.

Some people aren't loud and don't need to be the center of attention all the time. It sounds like this girl talks, but only when she feels is right.
You have one class with her. So, you can't judge. Plus, maybe her calm demeanor and drama free lifestyle are appealing
