You don't hear it in the media, at the debates, on the campaign trail, in Congress, in the White House, at the town hall meetings, in all the speeches you hear about changing US Govt. Nothing.

Term limits are by far the easiest & most effective way of cleaning up & cleaning out US Govt. for one very simple reason, it takes away power as fast as it is given so no one, even the ones with a ton of money can influence the US politicans serving in Govt. because nobody has to worry about getting re elected.

And that is why you almost never hear anyone talking about Term limits because politicians are addicted to the power of Govt.

I never liked term limits. It just reduces our choices. If we ever find someone who is really good, I'll want to keep him or her in office.

You never hear it because the idiots that run our government won't tolerate it or anything like it.
Just ask Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Tom 'Puff' Daschle, or John Glenn what they think.
Term limits would eliminate their luxury boat retirement system and their need to ignore Social Insecurity reform. Fact is, the last place term limits were installed was the office of the President, and Dems defied that until FDR was dead.
Career politicians are the reason our government ignores our requests to fix things.
We do, however, have an effective term limit system.
Just stop voting for idiots that do not listen to you. People want term limits for everyone except their own congressman. That system won't yield results.

Personally I don't think that term limits are necessary to bring in new blood. Public financing for campaigns with equal spending amounts for each candidate would swing politicians away from the interests of corporations and the wealthy while providing a platform for new ideas to enter the public forum. Right now if you're a major political player you really have no choice but to cuddle up with groups and individuals who have lots of money. Those with connections stay in power.

Term limits will never pass either house. Why? Because the longer one "serves" the bigger their retirement checks. Anyone think they're (congress) going to vote against that?

that's because immigration is the buzz word to do nothing about this cycle, term limits will come around and be ignored in one or two cycles its all cyclical with the reps and Dem's , and just another reason to vote 3rd party.

I've noticed. But, I also remember that several states tried to bring in term limits, and the (almighty) Liberal Supreme Court VOTED it "Unconstitutional". Now, where in the Constitution does it say that?
