The good news is you will for sure be able to get your your remote and your problem appears relatively minor and not serious since everything else seems to work fine. We are assuming you already put the battery back in, snapped the battery cover in place and should be able to verify your computer works fine-except for the tray. Check your screen to see if it looks OK. Then go to "computer" or "my computer" to see if the computer reads the CD and other hardware like the hard drive. My guess is, your will see it as a device-that is very good.

Call up a local computer repair shop and tell him your age and what happened and given him your computer brand and model number and ask if would be willing to check out the CD drive. Maybe your mom can help.

What you may need to do is remove the CD drive from the computer, take a look to see if you see anything strange and bring it over. It appears you may only need a minor adjustment more to your tray-maybe your dad can fix it with the right tools.

Your mom has almost certainly told your dad already. No point in keeping is a secret.

While you dad may get angry. You, at 12, have clearly learned a good lesson, unfortunately the hard way. Given the expense of the problem, I think he will view this as relatively minor. If this is the worse problem your dad will have to deal with in your life, you are going to do some really terrific things for sure he will be proud of.

Last thing, do not worry. You will be fine once your dad relaxes and understands what happened. You sound like a great kid.

Just try to bring it to a repair shop that fixes computer and have the spring reset for the remote, as for the CD tray, have that fixed as well seems like you might have shifted the 'hooking' device that catches the CD tray and keeps it in.
