I went for an ultrasound and the doctor said that she cannot find the heartbeat on the 6week baby. The doctor says I might be having a miscarriage. The doctor told me to come back next week for another ultrasound to see if there is any new development on the baby. If the the baby remains the same, they want to remove it...

Is it still too early to find the heartbeat?
Are my chances of a miscarriage very high?
Has anyone experienced this problem before?

I'm a bit worried, because this is my first baby and I was looking forward to it.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not exactly sure. But its possible that they thought you were further along than you actually are, and its just to soon to see or hear the heartbeat.
I've had miscarriages before in early pregnancy and i had cramping and bleeding for all of them. but its possible not to, that means your body's not passing the fetus. If you have miscarried you'll need to do what they say because you can get an infection and not be able to have more babies, if you don't get your uterus cleaned out.

I am soo sorry for you. I know how horrible it is to not know and not be able to do anything. You need to try your best not to upset yourself too much because you can cause a miscarriage if you get too stressed out. Hope for the best because everything is probably OK and they'll find the heartbeat next week.

No Heartbeat At 6 Weeks

Yes- I had the same thing. I went to the E.R. and had a transvaginal ultrasound. They saw the yolk sack which is good but no heartbeat. They also re assured me that it may just be too early. They classified it as a threatned miscarriage, but that was just because they had nothing else to classify it as. I went to the doctor the following week and got a heartbeat on the scan. It was comforting to know also that some people can't even get a heartbeat on a scan for up to 11 weeks. Everyone is different. They also pointed out that the dates were spot on. Meaning, the embryo's growth matched the date of my last menstrual period. Your chances of M/C are high until the 12th week, but just know that if it does happen, it's due to a chromosomal abnormality and the baby wouldnt survive outside of the womb. It sucks to hear, but thats just natures way I guess. On a reassuring note, I thought I was doomed to miscarry. I was bleeding, cramping, felt like crap and had been to the E.R. on two ocasions and now I'm 17 weeks and things are dandy. Good luck to you!

this is just from my experience Ok?
Last october, i went for my ultrasound and i shoulda been 10 weeks preg, the baby was only 6 and there was also no heartbeat.. they never told me something was wrong..i went home and later that night i lost the baby..
So it might just be to early to detect the heartbeat, but usually with the ultrasound maching they have now.. you should have seen a heartbeat, but again maybe just to soon

Hopefully when u go back everything is great and babies heart is just a beating
Good luck to you

I'm sorry this is happening to you. I have been preggers twice and both times at 6 weeks they were able to SEE the heartbeat thru the ultrasound. I don't remember at what point you can hear the heartbeat. I am praying for you. They should have taken blood to test your hormones. If the levels are dropping off, then yes you may have a miscarriage. I hope and really PRAY everything will be alright.

I am now 35 weeks pregnant BUT when I first found out I was pregnant and had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks they found no heartbeat. My dr. told me I was either 5 weeks pregnant, not 6 or I had/was having a misscarriage - I had to wait 13 days later and when I came back they heart the heartbeat and the baby had grown! Good luck and God bless!

Hi, it is to early for her to make that assessment.
I am not a doctor or anything of the sort, but I am a mother of 2 with one on the way and the babies heartbeat does not start until the 6th week of gestation.
If you are just now 6 weeks, then it is possible it has not started to beat yet.
I would not worry about it.
You would know if you were having a miscarriage,
I don't think it was wise of your doctor to tell you that, maybe you should seek another physician.
Congrats and God Bless!

I have had 3 kids and currently pregnant with my 4th, 6 weeks isn't really to early to find the heartbeat. It does seem that most likely your baby may not survive. I am very sorry for your loss but I pray that your baby has a heartbeat next ultrasound, if not know that God knew what was best and hopefully you'll have a very healthy baby next time around.

I wish you all the best of luck and luck to your baby as well

They generally do find heart beat on 6 wks pregnancy.
but, las time i was carrying twince and they didn't see heartbeat in one of my baby after 6 wks, and asked me to come back next week and she was able to see heartbeat.
i eventually did miscarry at 11 wks, but like my dr explained, it was nobody's fault, and there is nothing u can do stop a miscarriage.
miscarriage generally occurs because the baby is not forming properly, chromosomal incompetibilty and so many other reasons.
i wish u good luck and all the best.
